Founded in 1986, The Designers Republic located their business in Sheffield (UK), proclaiming to be “The Designers Republic Ltd, Sheffield, Soyo, North of Nowhere”. While members come and go, The Designers Republic (TDR for short) has always been led by Ian Anderson. With a background in philosophy and no formal design training, Anderson discovered his interest in design while producing flyers to promote clubs and shows in Sheffield. From there, Anderson landed jobs creating album covers for dance music groups, ultimately becoming the main design agency for the Warp records label in 1994 (Creative Review).
